‘The world has its own life, and as an author, you do not only write about what is happening on a daily basis but about all those things that are much bigger. And those things also last longer.’ The American writer, Pulitzer prize recipient and Nestroy award-winner Ayad Akthar enters into a poetic dialogue with his society and the world.
The multilingual European Actress has starred in 61 prestigious films and TV productions with such “avant-garde” directors as Catherine Breillat, Bertrand Bonello, Werner Schroeter and Carlos Saura. In 2018, she played in the Luca Guadagnino’s Oscar winner, “Call Me By Your Name”. On stage, she has played among other roles Hedda Gabbler at the Barbican and recently Olga in Simon Stone’s critically acclaimed “Three Sisters” at Odeon Theater in Paris.
The performance artist FLATZ is known for extraordinary stunts: he has already served as a target for darts and as a living clapper of the bell, swinging from one steel plate to another. 1992 he was invited to join the Documenta in Kassel and several years ago Dornbirn, his hometown in Austria, opened the first FLATZ-museum. FLATZ lives in Munich since 1975.
Dubbed by critics as “A wizard of percussion”, Austrian multi-percussionist Martin Grubinger has achieved the extraordinary feat of turning solo percussion into the highlight of the classical concert world. He is a regular guest at many of the top orchestras and the world’s most prestigious venues, and his repertoire is unusually broad and ranges from solo works and chamber music to percussion concertos.
Another thought-provoking artist – yet to be announced – will join the Artists in Discourse programme for a fifth Encounter. Be on the lookout for more information!
